Hey Sebastian, this book is like a secret? I only heard about it on
Charlie Rose (good job! you summed it up well.) Got the CDs, liked the
action and character development. Looking forward to the movie!!!
Good comment on the Vietnam bad press (should've skewered Walter Crankcase
for his lack of support of the troops).
Spoke to Joe Kahn, Boston Globe writer, author, he knows you, thinks you're talented
but hasn't read it yet. May want to give him a call and send a copy?
Hope you're on Howie Carr, local radio show, WRKO 680 AM 3-7 PM, M-F he has a retired Colonel on occasionally that you'll probably hit it off with. See you Tuesday at the BPL!

Hi Mike,

Wow, I'm not sure why you haven't come across more press. The book is definitely not a secret! Sebastian has been really busy promoting both the book and the documentary like crazy! He was on Bill Maher a few weeks ago (Episode 184, Air date: May 14, 2010), FoxBusiness.com (May 12), PBS NewsHour (On location @ The Aspen Institute, May 19), Nightline aired a two-part piece (May 22), The Daily Show (May 11), Tavis Smiley (May 28), and on and on - not to mention what seems to be 30 or so appearances on the currently ongoing book tour. Sometimes he even does two appearances a day!

I think it's odd that anyone in media (especially print media) in MA hasn't yet read the bestselling book by a major (and beloved) hometown author. That guy must be incredibly busy. In any case, if you're interested, you can find a lot of the videos of the above mentioned interviews on either their host channel websites, or on YouTube.

I really think the PR machine could work the milblogging community, including those who do podcasts even more. Sonya and Clay have done a bang up job accommodating requests for books, and at least 25 have been sent gratis to many of them for review. A review written by a soldier such as the one by LTC Chris Coppola, mean so much more to a lot of veterans. Like the review on the movie Restrepo by Charlie Sherpa, they just speak to a common experience that a film auteur from Sundance might not have. So, like you, I think much, much more needs to be done with our (in comparison) small community of milsupporters and bloggers.
