Hazing and Bullying in the Military

Following the Oct. 2011 apparent suicide of Army PVT Danny Chen in AFGH, the military (Army) has just rolled out its new Hazing Policy.   By all accounts Chen was repeatedly hazed and bullied in AFGH by those duly appointed over him due to his ethnicity to such an extent that he was driven to take his own life while serving a country he loved and was pledged to serve.  It is an unmitigated tragedy that we have allowed ourselves to become so hidebound and driven by "custom and tradition" that this type of unethical treatment was apparently condoned and ignored by those in command.
