Hi Jose,

I have been working hard for the Restrepo family to bring this film to the Pembroke Pines area, and I believe it is now playing in one or more north Miami locations. I contacted a number of newspapers and TV stations as well, got very positive responses, and several interviews are currently being generated; some have already been completed and published. The more media attention, the more people will see the film, and the more Juan will be remembered and his legacy acknowledged.

I have emphasized to these media contacts that the third anniversary of Juan's death (July 22) is fast-approaching and that something very special in the community needs to take place. I'm not privy to the inner workings of what may (hopefully) be in the planning stages, but I do hope there will be a public honoring of this man, who by all accounts, was an extraordinary individual.

Good luck with your wonderful gesture in Fort Lauderdale!

Many thanks for your efforts preserving the memory of "Doc" Restrepo. I'm very sorry you did not get a ticket for the screeing, but the movie will open in Miami very soon, and I hope you get to see it then. Best wishes -

Hello Jose.....
That is kewl Restrepo was from Pembroke Pines....I have relatives by Malabar so I know the area well....It is awesome what you are thinking of doing for him...."Brick of Honor"...I hope it works out for you....I am over by Melbourne..do you think they will get 'Restrepo' this way? I certainly hope so because lots of my friends want to see it....I do not have the energy to drive to Miami or anywhere further than Melbourne which is about 15/20 from the beach on I92..cinema world..which would be the better theater....Oaks is okay but not as big....Wish you well at Fort Lauderdale....Be good to yourself...
Well..so long...Clare
Hi Clare,
I know Melbourne very well ,every apr.I hang out at Wickham Park for the FL.Vet Gathering ,You would see a lot of 173 flags all over the park .A great place to rest and meet all friends .I dont know if they will send it your way ,I think here on the page have the locations of the showings .Thanks for your concern and be sure I will not stop until that "Brick{ is placed at the Memorial.
Jose
Hi Clare,

Remember that new movies start each Friday, so just keep checking the paper or web. I know a lot of us have been working to bring the film specifically to Pembroke Pines. I will take the information you provided for your area and I'll contact those theatres as well!

Take care, honey!

Sir,

You might also consider a brick at the 173rd Memorial in Columbus Ga. I understand and support the local memorial. But Doc Restrepo is now more than just a florida boy. To Sebastian and Tim's credit you can almost say he is the national face of the OEF casualty. The very fact that a cross generational tribute from an older warrior to a younger makes me still believe in US.

Doc Wilson
I was there also ,and did my donation .

Hallo Mzzzz..Katarina....
You are so special doing such fabulous things for everyone...I certainly admire your energy and the generous spirit you show....I appreciate you checking out the theaters....I am busy this weekend at our annual convention in Kissimmee..by Orlando..so on Monday I will call around....The last film I saw was 'Women' Meg Ryan and Jada Pinkett Smith...a nice cast actually....so Friday..today...is new movie day....that is good to know....:)
As long as 'Restrepo' makes it South..that will be truly grand..especially for Doc. Restrepo's family and friends....I know it will bring healing and closure to those who did not get to say goodbye...that harsh word....looking forward to the day when we will never have to say that word again.....Paradise....come soon....
Well my dearest friends....Have a tremendously, magnificent weekend...Stay safe...so long for now....Clare..hugs to you Katsu.....
Yes....
Wickham Park is known for quite a few festivities....Most parks in Florida are very beautiful...but that is the main 'happening' park...Folks go on moonlight midnight walks..food fests..etc.....central location....
I am glad that you are able to make the trip over every April...I did not know that the Vets met there annually....It must feed your spirit seeing old friends....Jose...I know you will get that 'Brick" where it belongs....May Peace, Joy and love be yours....so long Jose...Clare
