"Three quick thoughts:
1. I wish I had seen Meet the Press.
2. I think that many people believe we helped create the problem in Afghanistan well before 9/11 with our support of the Mujahadeen against the Soviets -- not for the good of Afghanistan…"
"Gregg, Katarina, thank you for your generosity of spirit and many kind words. As Gregg said, that is the American Way. I think that one of the great things about "War" is that whatever one's view of the conflict, one cannot help but…"
"I hold no brief for Eric, since I think his assessment of Sebastian, the book, the film, and soldiers is incorrect, and his language intemperate and insulting. At the risk of making myself equally unpopular, however, I think he does raise one point…"
"I'm sorry, I don't understand what our blowing to pieces a little country far away has to do with our sense of community or our Big Macs. It is not a football game where our side gets extra points for "team spirit." And 9/11…"

"I would like to thank you for a profound look at a difficult subject under dangerous circumstances that most of us will obviously never experience. Philosophically I have serious doubts about the wisdom of sending our young men abroad on military…"
I wanted to tell you I really quite liked your reply of June 11th in the thread "Pulling Out?". While I appreciate simplicity, I'm not a fan of whittling needfully complex and multi-fold decisions down to "either/or". Actually, the concept scares the hell out of me.
You made so many well-articulated and astute points that it doesn't make sense to list them all, but I just wanted you to know that someone appreciated the thought you put into your reply.
Have a great week!
