Sebastian Junger on Middle East Turmoil, and the Role of the U.S.

Sebastian's latest piece on Vanity Fair is a clear-headed argument on the importance of Western intervention in Libya and elsewhere.   As he puts it, "If we actively engage these movements with advice, with money, and, when necessary, with military force, then we get a vote in how it all turns out."   Check it out.

A letter from The Milton Margai School for the Blind, in Sierra Leone

There are many wonderful condolence letters and memories of Tim at www.timhetherington.org -- but none moved me so much as this one, from Barbara Davidson at the Milton Margai School in Sierra Leone.   I never knew about this chapter in Tim's life, and it gives an intimate look at a side of Tim few of us knew.   Long live the memory of "Uncle Tim."

Hi Stuart, I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for signing with Twelve and putting your trust and faith with Jon & Cary! It's been a real honor and privilege for me to sell this book and talk about it endlessly for the past few months with both my account and pretty much anyone who would listen. As I've told both Jon and Sebastian countless times, WAR has profoundly effected my life and my way of seeing things in ways I never expected, and I'm truly grateful for that. So again, thank you! Best, Jill

Thank you! We just found out yesterday that my brother will be attending the event as well. We are overjoyed! So there will be a member of 2nd Platoon, Battle Company in attendance. He is deploying again to Afghanistan in 2 weeks, so it will be all the more special to share this event with him.

I'd be more than happy to stand up. I'm usually shy, but when it comes to my brother I won't say no to anything that concerns him. Thank you very much. We are looking forward to this weekend.
