AH Regier replied to Anton P. Zurbrugg's discussion Diversity and Sexuality in the Korengal
"With all due respect to Sebastian Junger, I don't think that Anton misunderstands human sexuality at all. Instead, he grasps the darker side of it  all too well.  The DADT policy sanctioned homophobia.  It said, in effect, that…"

from my little pocket of upstate, New York, I hope for a safe and happy holiday season to all those soldiers in far flung places of the globe on active duty and all those veterans who've lived to tell the tale and the people who continue to care and support for them during periods of despair and uncertainty.  May all find it in their heart to lay down their arms during a season whose true meaning is about  the dawn of a new kind of brotherhood (or sisterhood) wiithout war.  May the leaders of…See More

I don't know how this news plays to returning troops or their families.....but in my own view, and unfortunately being thousands  of miles away, it seems to me the take away is that Afghans turning out to vote in what has been one of the scariest, dustiest, godless places on earth, Southern Afghanistan.  as the whole country turned out to vote for a new parliament, turn out was low -- but its almost to be expected. brave Afghanis in the Kandahar province -- a place where some analysts say the…See More
